Artist Research
WIP (still writing and researching)
I have been thinking of using canvas as a substrate for my bioplastic and utilising the glass beads I bought and maybe incorporating GAC to harden the canvas or create a form or a formless form that holds its shape. I feel frustrated by working on the glass panels because of the rigid nature of it and installing it perplexes me. I have painted with bioplastic before and also tested immersing mutton cloth fabric into it. I quite liked the effect and want to take the last opportunity to test in November assessment. Maybe this is a solution to link some of the painting side of my practice which I am missing with the bioplastic, maybe it is a place for now that will sit more easily. So I started research in the more painterly realm of abstract expressionism and minimalism. There were also artist suggestions from the key questions discussion that I want to look into further.
Robert Ryman
In researching minimalist artists, I was reminded of Robert Ryman. Im interested in looking deeper into his work for his use of white and how he has used it across the majority of his works. Ir makes me think of how to use bioplastic and how I do not need to feel restricted by it.
Bio note Robert Ryman (born May 30, 1930) is an American painter identified with the movements of monochrome painting, minimalism, and Conceptual art. He is best known for abstract, white-on-white paintings. https://alchetron.com/Robert-Ryman

Marguerite Humeau
Notes …

“Ranging from prehistory to imagined future worlds, Marguerite Humeau spans great distances in space and time in her pursuit of the mysteries of human existence. She breathes life into lost things, whether they be lifeforms that have become extinct or ideas that have disappeared from our mental landscapes. Filling gaps in knowledge with speculation and imagined scenarios, her aim is to create new mythologies for our contemporary era.”
