Work IV

In keeping with my smaller works containing pieces of moulded bioplastic, I made a larger piece which contains a thin piece of moulded bioplastic which was quite fragile and had broken. I used the agar powder which although produces a nice clear gel, is quite difficult to work with as the polymer strands which form after heating do not seem as strong as other agars. It also tends to solidify at a higher temperature than the other agar powders I have used. As a result there is a greater immediacy in forming the works. Maybe metaphoric of the need for faster action by individuals to address pollution and the contain the contaminants that affect oceans and their ecosystems.
