Studies - Smaller Works

I made some smaller works which I think of as quick studies that you would do in drawing or painting. I often have leftover bioplastic from the likes of the pot and poring jug I use in creating bigger works and the smaller works are a good way to utilise this and a way of testing other ideas. The dimensions of these are 120mm x 220mm. One is formed from algae from Lake Rotoiti and the other from the forms made with the ocean. These are shown below:

After producing these 2 works, I made 3 others but incorporated pieces of bioplastic that had moulded and also synthetic plastic netting. In creating these I was thinking about the negative humans and our toxic pollution and waste has on the ocean and beaches. The 3rd work in this particular series I frothed up the bioplastic prior to pouring into the wooden frame. Im assuming the excess of bubbles will make the work more opaque after curing and make the elements within the bioplastic harder to see.
