Working on Glass IV

I created a work from what I had gathered from the lakes edge (Lake Rotoiti), mixed in the hot bioplastic. I poured the mix directly on the glass, I was somewhat nervous doing this as I was worried about cracking the glass. I prepped the glass with a heat gun to warm it to minimise the “shock” of the hot liquid hitting the surface. I also let the bioplastic cool to about 65º, still pourable but a slightly thicker consistency than say at 80º. Was a bit of a balancing act getting glass warm and getting the bioplastic to the right temperature but the glass didn’t crack.

I left it to cure and hoped the bioplastic would stay adhered to the glass but it started to peel off at one end. I surmise this end started to pee because there is quite a large concentration of sand at this end. I will have to see what it does over the coming days now that I have my drying room back which speeds up the process considerably.
